Catellani & Smith
Catellani & Smith retailer for Hong Kong and Macao
This company was founded in the 1980s when Enzo Catellani started creating the design lamps that now make up the “Oggetti senza tempo” collection. In the 1990s, the concept of light refraction emerged and was developed through the Stchu-Moon collection. In these lamps, the light source is separated from the lighted object created by hand and having a unique, non-repeatable irregular surface. In 2006, the “Fil de Fer” lamp became a brand icon. It can be admired in the gardens of the Triennale Museum in Milan, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and in several hotels: its alluring shape is that of an artistic tangled sphere of aluminium wire with tiny lamps inside.
The brand owes its success to its deep passion for light and its unstoppable curiosity. Catellani & Smith never settles for merely functional objects, but instead wants to remove all the limits to shaping light to create unique effects and playful designs. Floor lamps, chandeliers, light sources and wall sconces are unique products that are still handmade by the artisans at Catellani & Smith.
